Municipalist Cooperation Observatory

The Observatory gathers and analyses a series of municipalist cooperation data from Catalan local administrations with the aim of analysing and disseminating this reality and monitoring its evolution.

What is the Municipalist Cooperation Observatory?

The Observatory has two objectives: the accountability of the management that Fons Català de Cooperació al Desenvolupament carries out, and the analysis of the reality of the international cooperation of local bodies in Catalonia. It is based on data provided by all Catalan public administrations, as well as data generated by Fons Català (available to the public and any interested entities and institutions), with the aim of facilitating research on cooperation in our country.

The Observatory also aims to generate knowledge about municipal cooperation, not only from their partners, but also from the rest of the Catalan administrations, fostering its spread to assert their role and that of all the local agents. On the one hand, the Observatory publishes graphs that represent trends and contexts, briefly describing the most characteristic features. On the other hand, it deepens the quantitative analysis through reports, complementing them with the knowledge generated through its own evaluations and studies and those from other sources. Data is also projected on maps so that users can geographically visualise the deployment of cooperation in other countries, on the one hand, and the participation of the different municipalities in cooperation efforts, on the other.

This is a tool under constant development and updating. Please contact Fons Català in case any incorrect or incomplete detail is detected so that it can be rectified or clarified. Every year, we will also request the addition of data from the new financial year in order to continue building the historical record and to observe the evolution over time of Catalan municipal cooperation.
